at the California Heritage Museum, aka the historic home on Main Street. loha Spirit August 19, 2011–April 22, 2012 The Magic of the Hawaiian Islands has captivated the hearts and imaginations of visitors for over 200 years. The infectious Aloha Spirit is the penchant that Islanders have for inviting the outdoors in and the indoors out; it is something they take home with them, not only as memories, but in tangible reminders of their trips: a shirt, a carved perfume bottle, a figurine. These mementos hold cherished spots in their homes, but for those who are truly smitten, they have become the centerpieces of a complete design motif around the Hawaiian experience. Aloha Spirit explores the many artifacts, objects and designs that have decorated the rooms of mainland homes. It captures the casual elegance that has charmed visitors to the Islands and reveals why these unique styles have found their way into the repertoire of many designers and homeowners who have yet to step foot in the pacific paradise. |

I'd hate to see the price tags on all that Aloha spirit. |

Aloha, The book is from 1998 and I think it is the exhibit that toured when it was new. If so, it's a lot of rattan and it's a tiny bit of tiki. You should see it if you are close. |

FYI, the museum is closed until April 17th to change exhibits. Not sure if they decided to end this early or what. |
