Where is this from!?!?

J

It's at Lakanuki, the highest elevation Tiki bar ever !!

It is a painted-on thrift store painting by artist Anthony Ausgang, from the first book on new Tiki Art (and the first book on Tiki) TABOO - THE ART OF TIKI:

I can't wait. I just gotta find some lederhosen that don't break the bank.

J

Still in... :) :)

This weekend !!

And is it fashion faux pas to wear an Aloha shirt with lederhosen ??

Don't think so. I shot this pic a week ago at the real Octoberfest in Munich:

Lederhosen can be worn in all sorts of combinations, apparently:

Thanks, Sven. You have succeeded in making us all jealous. I can't wait to get my lederhosen on. BTW you can post more pics of frauleins in lederhosen any time!

If you really want to get down with Americana Octoberfest, go all out with this Heino rap!:

I dunno about that Festmeister Hans guy...but I have been a big fan of Herr HEINO, who performs regularly at the Red Lion Tavern down the hill from me - it is also the location where part of this video was shot.

This guy really cracks me up - you have to know the real Heino though to get it. Here's a fine Hawaiian Schlager by the real thing :D

WooHooo! Let The Cuckoo Coo Clock Countdown Begin :)

Ha That Oktoberfest Gangsta rap is hilarious. Thank you for educating me on Heino. I lived in Deutschland 85-87 but never heard of Heino. Back then Falco was popular. I went to Oktoberfest in Munchen in '86 and have some great memories. Good thing we have a Hofbrauhaus in Las Vegas!

The "real" Heino is too cool, he's like an Aryan Don Ho !! :D

But what's up with the Heino tribute artist ? He actually goes by the name "Henio" ? That would be like a Tom Jones impersonator in Germany actually advertising himself as "Tom Jones". I don't think that's very respectful.

"Aryan Don Ho", that is on the money! Tom Jones too. My neighborhood Heino could be compared to a Thai Elvis, too. I think the love and care he displays in his accurate depiction of "Old Weird Eyes" speaks of tons of respect! :D

M

jOHN-O, The Heino tribute guy goes by the name Heino! (exclamation point is the key distinction). He is most likely playing each night of the Alpine Village Oktoberfest in Torrance- the crowd loves him!

Fantastic party !! Thank you mrsmiley and inkylouise for your generous hospitality. My friends and I had a great time.

And thank you Hubert. Last night I was introduced to the awesomeness of Heino (was that really him signing autographs?) and German porn. It was Wunderbar !! :)

Thanks Bruce and Suzanne for an awesome party! Es wahr sehr gut!

Thanks, Soccer, Trailpark and John-o! It seemed to go by so fast! Maybe we can start earlier next year....(if we do it again)

Thank you, Bruce. I know it was a lot of work but it rocked. Perhaps you should think about cutting a few corners to reduce the workload. It would still be an awesome party if you didn't put out 500 mugs!

M

OOF!
