On today’s show we engaged in another extrarodainarious and entropical exploration of exotica in all its effluvial effervescence.

  1. “Magic Island” the Ken Darby composition performed on the four-mallet vibraphone by Arthur Lyman on his album: The Legend of Pele, Recorded in 1955 at the Henry J. Kaiser Aluminum Geodesic Dome in Honolulu.

  2. “Eden's Island” by Eden Ahbez on his 1960 LP: Eden’s Island, featuring arrangements by former Stan Kenton pianist Paul Moer, Mr. Ahbez on flute and vocals, Emil Richards on marimba, and Frank Capp on Drums. All of the sounds were taken from standard sound effects LPs.

  3. “Kono's Revenge” by The Tikiyaki Orchestra from their latest CD: Aloha, Baby!, featuring Marty Lush on vibes, Jim Bacchi on electric guitar and bongos, and Brian Kassan on organ.

  4. “The Hidden Village” by the Hula Girls from their CD: The Curse of the Tiki, featuring DJ Bonebrake on Vibes, Gary Brandin on Steel Guitar and Crazy Al on Coconuts.

  5. “Sway” by The Mermen from their album: The Amazing California Health and Happiness Road Show.

  6. “Kizmiaz” by The Cramps from their 1985 recording: A Date With Elvis, with Lux Interior on vocal and his canonical wife, Poison Ivy, on Backing Vocals, Guitar & Bass.

  7. “Look! No Head!” by Laika and the Cosmonauts from their rotational retrospective: Cosmopolis. The Surf Guitar Band from Finland includes Mikko Lanikinen on Electric Guitar & Matti Pitsinki on Organ & Guitar, Tom Nyman on Bass & Janne Haavisto on Drums. [The previous band we heard, The Cramps, also had an LP titled “Look Ma, No Head]

  8. “Nature's Wrath” from the CD: The Budos Band III.

  9. “Stick on Bongo” by Tito Puente originally on the 1956 LP: Puente in Percussion and included on the concupiscent compilation: El Rey, starring Tito Puente, Mongo Santamaria, Carlos “Patato” Valdes & Willie Bobo on drums, “accompanied only by a bottle of Havana rum.”

  10. “Poppin' Panderos” by the Les Baxter Orchestra & Chorus from the 1957 LP: Skins! Bongo Party With Les Baxter, with Carolos Vidal on vocal.

  11. “Siboney (Cannibalism)” from the New Leviathan Oriental Fox-Trot Orchestra from their 1991 recording: The Nina, The Pinta and the S.S. Leviathon.

  12. “Siboney,” the real composition by the Spanish composer Ernesto Lecuona recorded in Havana in 1959 by Bebo Valdes and the Sabor de Cuba Orchestra from his Greatest Hits CD.

  13. “Malaguena” from the album: Exotica -- The Sensuous Sounds of the Sonny Lester Orchestra, also composed by Ernesto Lecuona and featuring Al Caiola on guitar.

  14. “Touch and Go” the 1956 recording from the copacetic collection: Songs by Kay Starr.

  15. “No Hay Problema,” the Jacques Marray composition punctiliously performed by Pink Martini on their CD: Sympathique.
