According to legend, the story of the Mai Tai is this ~ In 1944, while at his restaurant in San Francisco, Victor Bergeron, aka thee “Trader Vic”, created a new rum based drink and upon testing this drink on two friends who were visiting from Tahiti, one of them said “Mai Tai-Roa Aé”, which means “‘Out of this world, the best!” in Tahitian. Thus the name was born, as was what we now call and celebrate as one of the most classic of all delightful tropical concoctions, the Mai Tai. So, on Thursday Aug 30, Trader Vic's Celebrates 'National Mai Tai Day'. Trader Vic's offers a over 1/2 dozen variations of the classic Mai Tai cocktail, and there is no better day to come on down and get yourself acquainted! There will be the special Trader Vic's Mai Tai Happy Hour All Day!
