Recipe: Old Punch - suggestions??

Pages: 1 6 replies

I found this in a retro recipe flyer and wanted to know if I can use light rum in place of the old Fitzgerald?
I'm trying to keep it simple .... makes 45 servings....

1 lrg. cup brown sugar
8 oranges
6 lemons
1 c pineapple juice
2 5ths Old Fitzgerald
2 pts. dry ginger ale
3 pts.club soda

Should work great. Pineapple, lemon, orange, sugar, ginger and booze. Sounds straight out of tiki-land to me, especially with the rum sub.

Thank you...I'm going to try it with light Cruzan...

A

Cruzan light should work OK, but I would think Cruzan dark would be a better replacement for Bourbon.

Good to know, I will use Cruzan dark. Thank you!

This is basically the same as a classic rum punch recipe by substituting the bourbon
I would try a single drink or small batch first to see if you like it
I recommend also substituting 7up for the club soda or just use all ginger ale

I would hold off adding the brown sugar at first, try it in a test drink to see if you like it
it is going to make it very sweet, when I make a rum punch I like to add the juice of 4 to 6 limes in
a large batch with a few drops of orange bitters also for a small hint of sour.
