Tiki Kon: Adventure Island - July 12-14, Portland, OR

Tiki Kon sets sail for Adventure Isle this July 12-14, at the Red Lion at the Quay in Vancouver, Washington!

Now in its 11th year, Tiki Kon returns this summer for a weekend of exotica, surf and lounge music, dancing, DJs, vendors, fashion, cocktails and adventure. This authentically home-grown event features local and regional artists, performers, vendors and sponsors in an elegant vintage setting, right on the Columbia River. Get your tiki groove on Northwest style!

Come aboard at our Friday night kickoff party at the Quay Bar, the West Coast's best vintage nautical-themed bar and restaurant. With real masts, sails and rigging towering overhead, you'll be transported to the main deck of a mighty sailing ship. The next morning, come ashore on Adventure Island for a day of activities, fine dining and our gala party under the stars on the River Deck, adjacent to Tiki Kon Lounge. On Sunday morning, expeditions set out for an all-day VIP tiki tour of Portland's most amazing home bars. It's the longest running home bar tour in the country!

The Red Lion at the Quay (pronounced "key") provides an ideal setting for an event our size, and is still just minutes away from downtown Portland. It allows us to create an experience that is intimate and better tailored to the refined tastes of our guests than in previous years. With discounted room rates and several different ticket packages, the event offers top-notch accommodations and a terrific travel value, and July is the best time of year to visit the Portland area. Great things are in store!

Ticket and lodging information are forthcoming. We also have vending, sponsorship and volunteer opportunities. Follow us on social media or subscribe to our email bulletin service for updates.

I can't wait, this venue is amazing! It's going to be so much fun!

Sophista-tiki (Dawn) said this is the best event ever. We just bought our tickets and booked our room. We have only been to the Alibi once and nothing else. We are so excited to attend this event. Cheers, Wendy

I'm really hoping to go this year. Will an excursion to Hale Pele also be on the agenda, or should we just do that on our own?

Got tickets. Got room. Decided we didn't want to drive back from Vancouver to Salem every morning.

Sputnik Housewares will be vending again this year and we can't wait! We recently acquired a HUGE collection of vintage mugs and Coco Joes that we will be bringing along with 1950/60s barware and lighting! We are holding this inventory especially for Tiki Kon so you guys will get first dibs! Hope to see you all there!

Shopping is really fun. We are looking forward to meeting the Oregon Ohana. Cheers, Wendy and Dan

Breaking news! Bosko will be vending and giving a seminar!

The Saturday night line-up has just been announced! http://www.tikikon.com/

Saturday Night Gala Party

7:00pm - 11:00pm, River Deck, Red Lion

Featuring: Sneaky Tiki and the Lava Lounge Orchestra, The Ding Dong Devils, and The Satin Chaps!

Join us under the stars on the River Deck for our grand gala party. With the mighty Columbia River as a sunset backdrop, we bring you the best local and regional tiki-style entertainment, right on the water on a summer night.

The Red Lion's River Deck is literally on the water, built on the quay that holds the hotel. It's adjacent to the Tiki Kon Lounge, where you'll find a selection of tropical beverages, including cocktails from Trader Vic's and Hale Pele, and beer from Kona Brewing, plus a mouth-watering menu of snacks and appetizers customized for just for Tiki Kon.

$12 adv / $15 door / or any VIP Pass, 21+ only

Mug reveal!
Are you a Super VIP ticket holder? If so, you should have received an email invitation to an exclusive pre-order opportunity for our 2013 event mug by Munktiki. This offer ends June 19 at midnight. If you are a Super VIP and didn't receive the email, please PM us, and we'll investigate.

Shaped like the posts that support the historic Vancouver quay, this collins-style tiki mug appears to be carved from the timber. It's a fitting tribute to the Quay Bar, which was built in 1955 and faces an uncertain future, and to the Red Lion at the Quay, host to our annual shenanigans. Each mug was handcrafted, detailed and numbered by Munktiki in their Portland studio, from a run of 100. The event year is marked on the bottom.

So far this event has been over the top terrific. We are in Tiki Heaven. Today starts the crawl and we are up early and ready for another great day. This is an event that shouldn't be missed. We are ready to sign up for next year. Wendy and Dan

The last day was as good as the first. All the stops and home tours were terrific. Greg and Justin you guys rock us all with the most perfect event. You exceeded our expectations. We loved your event. Also all the Kon Tiki art by the prior organizer was superb. Thank you so very much. Please do it again next year. Cheers, Wendy and Dan Cevola

I wish I could have made it,sounds like a great time.

My other wish would be that people from outside California could pull out there IPHONES and take some photo's.
As Tiki Central has become outdated, it seems less and less photos are brought to these forums anymore.

I WANT TO SEE WHAT I MISSED,GIVE ME SOME PHOTOS,PLEASE

W Tiki Central is not outdated dude, and what's an IPhone? Here are a few shots I got off before my Instamatic jammed.

The view from the vending area looking at the I5 bridge towards Oregon.

The Ding Dong Devils on the mighty Columbia River.

A photographer named David Bales was hired to take hundreds of pictures. I'm sure he will have something to show soon. [email protected], davidbalesdesign.com

Thanks for the photo's Cy,Great Tiki's from you as always.

As per my outdated comment:
When a website has a conversation section and it's the same 5-10 people in the conversation daily and the cool and current section has no connection with hit count of subjects but is controlled by the same 5-10 people you see why there are less advertisements being placed and payed for.

It is not my wish for Tiki Central to disappear, but much like any good tiki bar,you need to keep up with the times and try to get the bigger crowd, not count on the 10 regulars that scare off the possible new client.

Excellent photos from a wonderful event!! Thanks!!!
