Lamp shade help for vintage Tiki table lamps

Pages: 1 6 replies

I recently was fortunate enough to find these vintage ceramic lamps. They came with hideous modern white silk shades. I was wondering if anyone could help point me in the right direction for finding shades that would compliment the lamps. As a last resort I guess I could find some plain white craft shades and cover them with vintage tapa. Thanks in advance for any help.

I haven't used this company - and they aren't cheap - but they've got some pretty stuff.

The previous posters are spot on, but you might also take a look at the lauhala or rattan shades from KC Hawaii:

I just looked more closely at your lamps - are they plaster / chalkware? We picked up a pair a while back at antique store - looks like the same mold, different finsh. Ours are dark brown with a goldish dry brush and matte finish. They have a few chips, but one of these days I'll get around to at least painting over them.

I was so excited when I saw these at the store! I gasped so loud when I walked around the corner my hubby thought I hurt myself :)

Here's a pic of the lamps and the shades they came with which were supposedly original. They are a 2 layer shade with an off white inner shade that looks like a thick rice paper or maybe vellum. The outer shade is woven.

Thanks for the help everyone. These lamps are hollow molded ceramic. I also found these at an antique store here in Michigan. I nearly pushed my wife out of the way as I ran over to the both they were in. The seller had them tagged as Chinese Foo Dogs. Some folks just don't research anything and ya gotta love it. Thanks again.

I second this, I have some of their shades & they don't come cheap
