Tiki Central / Tiki Carving

Afternoon Tiki Bar sign

Pages: 1 3 replies

Beginning stages of converting a home bar room into a Tiki style bar. Threw this together Sunday afternoon to kick things off. The Moai (I guess you'd call it) is made from a couple old stair treads, the lettering and teeth are from a top of a dresser and the flower is just a piece of scrap 1/4 birch plywood. It's mounted to a 2" strip of mahogany. The face is made up of 5 sections, the base or lettering background, chin, cheeks nose and head. The cheeks section is tapered down to the eyes for depth. The back of the nose is contoured to fit. Everything else is pretty straight forward. It's a little over 40" tall. Need to get some material to try carving. Too many boards.
