According to Foss, rum wasn't invented when or where most people think it was, the version drunk by pirates doesn't resemble any that you can buy now, and the most famous sea chantey about it was composed in 1882 by an author who never hoisted a sail. Most Americans have never heard of one of the best selling rums in the world, nor do they know that the largest rum distillery used to be in Boston, Massachusetts. So come out and learn about rum, while sipping on one of our 104 rums from around the world! Richard Foss will untangle some history and tell some of the strange tales of the beverage that once fueled the economy of half the world and now lives on in cocktails everywhere.
