In the last 24 hours, I've seen a handful of posts referring to the Starbucks coconut mugs, so I wanted to present my handmade coconut mugs, featured in my Etsy store. Admittedly, I can't offer a comparable price point, but I can offer a superior quality product. I'm still looking for my first Etsy sale, so I'll refund shipping on any purchases made before midnight, PST, on Friday, 11/22. I threw these on the potter's wheel and carved a foot in them. After I hand carve the coconut texture, I layered the inside with three layers of porcelain slip. Next, they're bisque fired. After that, 2-3 layers of glaze is applied on the inside, before putting them back in the kiln for a cone 10 reduction firing at 2300 degrees. The natural color of the clay decorates the surface, so you don't have to worry about glaze chips. These are very durable and superior quality ware. Dishwasher safe, but not microwave safe. Here's a couple new pairs of "Nuka Hiva Booze Barrels" ($45/pair + shipping)and a couple Maori Hei-Tiki ($15/each)pendants and a PNG pendant (@25). The booze barrels were thrown on the wheel, have a trimmed foot, and hand carved designs. The Maori pendants were made with a press mold and the PNG pendant is completely hand sculpted and glazed.
