What kind of Rum Barrel is this?

Aloha Folks!

I found this Rum Barrel a few months ago, and can't seem to i.d. it.

Take a look at the pics and lemme know whatcha think!

It's fairly large, with two holes in it: top and side.

The only markings are "USA" on the bottom.

I just saw one of those recently. No markings on the one I saw either, but I'm guessing from the two holes that it had corks or plastic stoppers in it. Probably a whiskey bottle or something that used to have a paper label.
