m/ m/ Recap of Last Week Follows the Invite m/ m/
When: Thursday, May 8, 2014 $5 Tiki Drink Specials & Full Food Menu available all night! Drop by for just one, or stay the whole evening - that's up to you. Sadly, the Washington, DC region gave up all of it's Tiki glory years ago. Tiki Shirts & Aloha wear welcomed and encouraged! EASY PARKING: There is a 200 space municipal parking lot directly across the street. Meters range from 2 to 15 hours. House of Foong Lin's charm is that they are an old school Chinese/Asian restaurant that kept the classic Tiki drinks going long after they all but disappeared from most menus. They have also been amazingly receptive to the local Ohana that have discovered this non-trendy oasis. They have brought in special rums to cater to their Tiki regulars, upped their game with several drink additions to the menu (a very respectable Black Magic, a Mai Tai '44 and Mai Tai 52, among them). Also, the food is absolutely first rate - some of the very best Chinese food in the Washington, DC area. This week we plan to drink great classic Tiki drinks and talk about some ideas for future gatherings. Tonight we will be "auditioning" a new drink from a 50+ Tropical Drink guide - The Jet Pilot. Let our hosts know if you think this classic should be an addition to the drink menu. [[[((8-0))]]] Recap of Tiki Thirstday VII, May 1 [[[((8-0))]]] Mahalos and Alohas to the many repeat visitors who are making this a party worth putting on the calendar. Special Mahalos to David V. who is "engineering" a second sound system so that the Lounge can have its own soundscape separate from what is playing in the dining room. This means more Exotica and other great music to underscore the great time we're having every week. (As Always) Huge Mahaloz to Miss Ling, who makes our drinks, and Our Host, Chef Fu who has graciously given us use and the run of his lounge (and sweetened the deal with our Tiki Drink specials and wonderful food). They are delighted we are here and please take the time to let them know how much you are enjoying a place to Tiki with your friends and family. (If you have not yet met them, please let me know and I will introduce you!) Winner of the Weekly Drawing: Lisa V. who will receive a $20 Certificate because we had over 25 in attendance. And now your weekly test to see who's reading these posts (and attending). For those who can, bring in one of your mugs this week. (Nothing rare or valuable, after all this is a bar and we don't want to worry about breakage or loss) [ Edited by: Dr. Coruba 2014-05-08 11:40 ] |
