Be careful juicing limes in the sun!

Pages: 1 4 replies

Turns out that juicing limes and exposing the skin to sunlight can cause phytophotodermatitis, which can cause blisters, swelling, and permanent skin discoloration: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phytophotodermatitis

Who knew?!

You mean a case of Lime induced "Phytophotodermatitis" like this....

From now on I'm juicing all my limes in my attic!

H

Why do I feel like I want to pop those bubbles with a sewing needle asap.

That one I actually knew because my dermatologist always warns about limes, figs, and a few other foods that can severely reduce your sun protection when eaten. Obviously, it is much worse directly on the skin.
