It does bring up an interesting point- now that almost every adult human being has a camera with them when they're out in public, events that used to be only described are now documented in minute detail, and everyone can be a photojournalist. So for '15 minutes', an Aussie cab driver is famous:

Based on the time between seeing the 'explosion' and hearing it, I calculated that they were about 2.9 miles away (+/- .5 miles). Probably well within the danger zone for possible flying debris. Yikes!
