Golden Bear Nightclub Huntington Beach

Pages: 1 3 replies

Does anyone remember this place?
I had some great times and even had my first beer there (at age 18).
The people that played in this tiny venue will just blow your mind.
When they tore it down, the soul of the town seemed to have gone with it.
I sure miss the old beach town, they made it a tourist trap now.

Here's a great thread of the old Huntington locals that remember it well.

Hell Yes!

I saw Peter Gabriel, Blondie, George Thorogood & The Red Hot Chili Peppers
and many Punk bands there back in the 70s.

Considering the size of the place, some very notable acts played there.

Lots of early Punk gigs also...

It is hard to imagine that the corner of PCH and Main in Huntington Beach, which is the home of this retail monstrousity

was once home of this

I never went there, was before my time.
But Dick Dale, The Surfaris, and many other bands played there in the 80s,
not sure about in the 60s.
there was a place right on the pier where Dukes is now(that the Chantays said they played in the 60s)
