Tiki carving on in ground stump

I just finished a 6 foot carving on a freshly cut black acacia tree and plan to preserve/kill the stump with bor8rods.Can anyone suggest a stain/varnish/lacquer to use. Because it is in ground and outdoors I am not sure what to use.

Can't wait to see it.
Still in the ground & outside are tuff to protect from.
Fresh cut makes it double.
It will be around for a few years at least.
Plenty time to carve more.
