Here's 2 facts about X:

  1. They are NOT "Tiki".

  2. They've become an oldies band.

HAHAHAHA!!!

Should be in Beyond Tiki!!!

I got your oldies, right here John!
Yea, we need a non-Tiki event category

And Ben & I know what is to be "The oldies" at these Punk gigs
I did the worm at a recent Dickies gig (Ben was there!)
I think the kids, thought I was having a seizure.

Actually I am going to pull a John-O!

D.J. Bonebrake, X's drummer who also plays the vibraphone in the Bonebrake Syncopators & Orchestra Superstring
which play Jazz, Swing & Exotica, Which recently played "Tiki Oasis" can be considered a Tiki band
at the very least having Tiki connections!

So you my friend can suck it! and when I say suck it, I mean suck on some cocktails, oh yea!

Exene declares her love for surf music...

YouTube: Reverb Junkies Trailer

And we all know surf music is tiki, right?!

Or is that an issue that is still unresolved?

and I have seen DJ Bonebreak play Vibes with King Kukulele and the Freaky Tikis,
at the Tiki Farm party in 2000 I believe it was, maybe 2002, I can't remember, I'm getting old too.

and I just saw DJ bone break play drums with my friend Bernard's new surf band Par Avion.

so suck on that.

Jeff(btd)

Not to mention the last few X gigs I have seen, the band has been doing acoustic lounge versions
of all the old songs with DJ Bonebreak on Vibes instead of drums.

And they share the same manager with The Hula Girls, plus Exene has been spending some time at Don the Beachcomber lately.
so maybe this thread should be back in Calif. events?

Oh oh oh
I almost forgot,
There is a surf tribute cd to X
Called Johnny Walk don't Run Paulene

Looking forward to it, and trying to decide if I want to go to all four.

X is playing 2 albums a night for 2 nights in SD!

Someone said something about sucking stuff?

I'll likely have a plane crash on me or a meteorite hit me knowing my luck seeing X.

So Luna, San Diego is getting two shows for the price of one, on the same night?
we only get one album a night per show.
lucky bastards!

Yeah pretty great! It would be worth the drive down I am sure.

Starts tonight!
Mike Watt & the Blasters are the opening acts, hope Dave Alvin sits in with the Blasters set
I almost didn't get to go, but been on my feet for a week now, just no slam dancing for me.

Anyone else in SoCal going tonight?
Luna, enjoy the San Diego show!

Sadly, Billy Zoom has some medical issues
X the band
Help Billy Zoom Kick Cancers Butt
but according to the bands webpage, he will be there.
