Gruß vom Krampus!

Merry Christmas! Santa visited the Polynesians for centuries before Western civilization discovered their islands. I am also told that, centuries ago, he brought rum distilleries and tropical cocktails and ukuleles to their islands as a gift. (Who the hell have I been listening to?!)

(This image is from the now-defunct "thetikibarshop.com" web site.)

For y'all who do not "do" Facebook, here is my "The Birth of Tiki" nativity scene:

How to interpret: The parents (Mary & Joseph) of Tiki are represented by the Hula girl (the Hawaii craze), and the caveman (primitive art).

Further influences ( the three wise men) were the space age, cartoons, and entertainment (music, movies)

We also have Witco (the Mama Lama bar), and it's anybody's guess what the turtle represents :)

Merry Christmas to All you Tiki Freaks from the Bamboo Ben Tribe !!!

When TIKI is 99% of your life, sometimes you need to get away.

Grand Canyon 12/20/2015 7 degrees!!!

Merry Christmas from Uncle and Mrs. Trav.
