PriTiki and Cultural Appropriation - New Posts on my Blog

Pages: 1 4 replies

With Moana coming out next week, I did a double-header on my Disney-inspired blog this past week. The first was Before Moana and the Enchanted Tiki Room: the Romance of Hawaii in the Golden Age of Travel in which I talk about the "prehistory" of Tiki from first contact with Polynesia through the Second World War (which is getting to be more my thing, since that plays into my pre-existing love for pre-WWII stuff). The second tackled that perennial question Is Tiki "Cultural Appropriation"? (short answer: "No"). I just thought I'd mention them here for obvious reasons, in case anyone finds them interesting or useful. And if you do check 'em out, I'd love to hear your comments either there or here!

I also posted another article in my ongoing series about the gods of the Enchanted Tiki Room lanai. This time around it's Hina Kuluua!

Bumping myself here to mention another article on my series on the Enchanted Tiki Room lanai gods: The Story of Ngendei
