eBay: Skipper Kent Collection - 2017

Skipper loved gems and minerals. He collected many stone figures and other objects carved from exotic materials, both for his restaurants and for his personal collection. There were over 100 obsidian figures in the collection, which sold as a grouping to a single collector back in 2003. I cannot help but wonder where they are now.

This Tourmalated Quartz figure is one of my favorites. The stone is a cool blueish-green infused with short, dark tourmaline segments. The carving itself is very well done, portraying a seated Mayan warrior or noble.
