Radio Fairfax also can be heard on Tune In Radio at tunein.com, and streamed on smartphones by downloading the Tunein app. It also can be streamed on Roku and Google TV at: http://tinyurl.com/3uqfsz9 Past shows from this year are now available to listen to in their entirety at: https://www.mixcloud.com/Flashfriend/ “Danny Boy” taken from the brilliantly bundled box: Art Tatum – 20th Century Piano Genius, recorded in 1955 at parties at the Beverly Hills home of Warner Brothers Studios musical director and multiple Academy Award nominee & three-time winner Ray Heindorf. “Eileen” performed by Danny Kaye on his Personal Album Radio Show in the late 1940s and which appears on the CD: Kid From Brooklyn. “MacNamara's Band” recorded in 1945 – the year it was composed for Bing Crosby – in a version by Spike Jones & His City Slickers featuring Carl Grayson on Vocal, from the bodacious Box Set: Strictly for Music Lovers. “My Wild Irish Rose,” composed by Chauncey Olcott for the 1899 Broadway musical: A Romance of Athlone, performed during a 1939 radio broadcast by Chick Webb and His Orchestra from the album: Standing Tall, featuring Webb on Drums. “Green Eyes (Aquelles Ojos Verdes),” was sung by Miguelito Valdez in 1940 and daringly derived from the historical document A Proper Introduction to Xavier Cugat -- Say “Si Si.” ‘Tenement Symphony,” composed by Hal Borne, Ray Golden and Sid Kuller for the 1941 Marx Brothers’ movie: The Big Store, was vocalized by Tony Martin on his reliquarious retrospective also titled Tenement Symphony, backed by Wolf Phillips & The Skyrockets Orchestra. “Give It Back to the Indians,” the Rodgers & Hart song from the 1939 Broadway musical: Too Many Girls, taken from the 1956 debut LP: Meet Mark Murphy. “Jump, Jive, An' Wail” the 1956 recording by the song’s composer and Trumpeter Louis Prima with Keely Smith, taken from the cool compilation also called Jump Jive & Wail. “Sweet and Sour” from the admirable album: Skinny Dip With Don Tiki, featuring Hai Jung on Vocal and Flute. “Shine On (Big Bright Moon, Shine On),” the 1951 song from the collection: Rockin’ in Rhythm – The Best of Ruth Brown. “Leilani” by the Hula Girls from their scintillacious CD: The Curse of the Tiki, with Spike Marble on Vocal and Kevin Bullat on Steel Guitar Lucas Vigor on backing vocals and Bass and Dominic Tucci on Drums. “I'll Die Happy” by Buster Poindexter from his high concept CD: Buster's Happy Hour. “You Go to My Head,” the 1938 song composed by J. Fred Coots and Haven Gillespie, first recorded by Billie Holiday and Teddy Wilson, sung for us by Northern Virginia’s own Lena Seikaly on her scriptural CD: Written in the Stars, with Bobby Muncy on Tenor Sax, Nathan Lincoln-DeCusatis on Piano, Tom Baldwin on Bass and David McDonald on Drums. Another version of “Danny Boy,” this one taken from a 1964 recording that is included in the Tony Bennett collection called: Jazz, featuring Stan Getz on Tenor Sax, Herbie Hancock on Piano, Ron Carter on Bass and Elvin Jones on Drums.
