Tiki Gardens Postcards on ebay, that aren't...

SORRY FOR THE DOUBLE POST

[ Edited by: Tikigardener on 2003-08-24 14:14 ]

I've noticed several items on ebay where people are printing up postcards or photos using images from the Florida Photographic Collection.

As far as I can tell these images are the property of the FPC. My main reason for reaching this conclusion is that they sell the images themselves.

I've contacted them, but haven't heard back yet. The FPC was gracious enough to allow me to use their images on the Memorial, as long as it was a non profit site. Which it remains.

So I'm going to ask TikiCentralites to think twice about bidding on these items.

For anyones interest, you buy the images from the FPC. If I recall correctly, in either near postcard size, and 8x10!!!

Heres the Tiki Gardens Collection url,

Hey Now,

Thanks for the heads-up on this. I collect postcards (mostly local stuff) and it's nice to know when there is a scam in the works. I'll be letting the local club in on this as it will be of interest to them.

Thanks again!!!

No problem, I noticed my first link to the tiki gardens collection doesn't work, so use the second one, and click the Collection home page, I think this link might work, and then use the search engine

Wow-

Thanks for the tip. I hate when people try to make money in a really jack-assed sorta way. Also thanks for the tip on the Florida Photographic collection. There were a couple of real gems when I did a search under 'Fort Lauderdale'. I would post them here but that's almost as bad as someone scamming them on Ebay. Do the search yourself if you get a minute. The images of Ft. Lauderdale really start o get a little surreal once you get around to image #123.

the things that got me were the one sellers embargo on bids from France Germany and Russia. Presumably due to their non-lockstepping with G.W. on Iraq. Patriotism, I suppose, yet copyright laws don't mean anything.

The film clip of Daytona is great, FPC is a massive resource, I'd love to actually go there someday.
