What to do with Dom B&B?

Pages: 1 5 replies

I

A neighbor is moving overseas and bequeathed us his stash of booze. It's a mixed bag of stuff I like (Screech), stuff I don't (port, vermouth, random cordials), and some WTH... namely, Dom B&B.

Can anybody suggest good things to do with B&B, other than sipping?

B&B is essentially a bottled 1:1 ratio of Benedictine to brandy/cognac, so any recipes that call for equal parts of each should work. Here are a few that I’ve enjoyed. I don’t know any specific tiki drinks that fit the bill, although I did find the first one on Beachbum Berry’s blog before he updated his website a few years ago.

Touchable

1 oz gold rum
1 oz dry vermouth
1 oz B&B
1/2 oz fresh lime juice
1/2 oz maple syrup

Shake with ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a cinnamon stick.

Brandied Cherry

1 oz rye whiskey
1 oz Cherry Heering
1 oz B&B

Stir with ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a brandied cherry.

Botanical Breeze

1-1/2 oz Bombay Sapphire gin
1/2 oz B&B
1/2 oz St-Germain
1/2 oz fresh lime juice

Shake with ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish by floating a slice of kiwi in the glass.

Works just fine.

Good point. If using the Bum’s 1950’s recipe (Remixed, p 88; my preferred version), sub B&B for both the Benedictine and brandy, and the overall flavor shouldn’t change.

Many thanks!
