It’s that most tubular and tinselated time of year to mark the holiday season in true tikiphile fashion in Dr. Zarkov’s Tiki Lounge.

Dr. Zarkov’s Tiki Lounge show is broadcast on Wednesdays, 5-6 pm Eastern Standard Time (2-3 pm on the West Coast and 10-11 GMT in Europe) at http://www.radiofairfax.org..   2. “Hosana (Ua Mau)” from the sensational CD: Hawaiian Holidays – Christmas With Na Leo, the vocal trio whose full name – Na Leo Pilimehana –means “voices blending together in warmth,” is made up of Angela Morales, Nalani Choy and Lehua Kalima Heine.

  3. “I Love Christmas (Aloha Kalikimaka)” composed by Eddie & Myrna Kamae with Mary Kawena Pukui performed by The Brothers Cazimero on their album: Caz Christmas, with Roland and Robert Cazimero.

  4. “Santa's Menehune” by King Kukulele & the Friki Tikis on the CD: Luau in December, featuring King Kukulele (or Denny Monaghan) on Vocals & Ukulele Bora Bora Bonebrake (a/k/a DJ Bonebrake) on Marimba.

  5. “Christmas Mornin'” by Dan Hicks & the Hot Licks on their recording: Crazy for Christmas, with Roberta Donnay and Daria – The Lickettes – on Backing Vocals.

  6. “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” from the 1968 LP: The New Possibility & Christmas With John Fahey, Volume II.

  7. “I Saw Three Ships (Come Sailing In)” performed by Don Dixon from the 1986 incomparable compilation: The dbs & Friends/Christmas Time Again.

  8. “Bus Rider Blues” by Blind Boy Fuller and Sonny Terry, taken from the Bodacious Box Set: The Prewar Blues Story – 1926-1943.

  9. “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day” by The Rasta Jah Band from the copious collection: Reggae – The Definitive Collection: Songs of Freedom. This carol was based on an 1863 poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow lamenting Christmas bells were ringing in spite of the ongoing Civil War.

  10. “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (Don Rudolpho),” the 1949 song by Johnny Marks, based on the children’s book written for Montgomery Ward by his brother-in-law Robert L. May, performed by the Hot Club of San Francisco from the antic anthology: The Hot Club Cool Yule, featuring Paul “Pazzo” Mehling on Guitar and Evan “Zeppo” Price on Violin.

  11. “Jingle Bells,” The 1850 Autumn sleigh riding song composed by James Lord Pierpont, recorded in 1935 and featured on the historical document: Bunny Berigan – The Pied Piper, 1934-1940, featuring Benny Goodman & His Orchestra, with Goodman on Clarinet and Tenor Sax and Bunny Berigan on Trumpet.

  12. “Mele Kalikimaka,” the Robert Alex Anderson composition taken here from that yuletide temptation: Christmas With the Puppini Sisters, featuring Marcella Puppini on Ukulele and Blake Wilner on Slide Guitar.

  13. “Siberian Sleighride,” the 1939 recording from the creative collection: The Music of Raymond Scott – Reckless Nights and Turkish Twilights.

  14. “The First Nowell” by the notorious piano duo Ferrante & Teicher, featured on the competent compilation: Space-Age Cocktail Lounge.

  15. “Baby, It’s Cold Outside,” originally composed by Frank Loesser for him and his first wife to perform only at private parties that he later used in the 1949 movie: Neptune’s Daughter for which it won the Academy Award, performed here by Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Jordan on the anthology: Yule Be Miserable.

  16. “Vauncing Chimes,” the 1990 recording by Bobby Watson & Horizon, with Watson on Sax and Melton Mustafa on Trumpet, featured on the Jazz anthology: Yule Struttin’ – A Blue Note Christmas.
