Luaus at classic DTB and Trader Vic's?

Pages: 1 3 replies

I've been trying to determine which classic Tiki venues had full-on Polynesian revues. I know that the Mai-Kai kicked theirs off with the Mai-Kai Islanders Revue in '62, but I don't know if Don the Beachcomber, Trader Vic's, or any of the other early ones happened around the same time. Does anyone know?

Disneyland used to, as did the Bali Hai in San Diego, Madame Wong's in L.A.'s Chinatown. I'm sure there were countless others, some more "authentic" than others.

Don the Beachcomber's in Waikiki had constant live music and Polynesian shows. In fact there is a segment of Cinerama's "South Sea Adventure" that is shot in DTB, Waikiki.

I've also found an old Promotional Film made by Matson Lines which has footage of Don the Beachcomber and a Hawaiian feast he presided over.
