Tiki Firepit

Pages: 1 7 replies

I've been working on this project on the weekends. Hopefully I'll have it complete by Thanksgiving of this year. Sometime in the early summer, another local artist (a good friend and lodge brother of mine)and I decided to try to make the largest backyard Tiki in North Texas.
Well after a few months of sketching and planning (and $385 later) we broke ground and started to create my fire pit. I'm at work right now so I cannot upload the photos (because I don't have them on this HD) but here is a link to my site: http://www.unklejohn.com/lounge.htm
I have a HUGE backyard, that I'm starting to turn into a backyard paradise. Soon I'll be adding a camper in the back to turn it into a bar/art studio. But that will be addressed in a later post.
I'll have more pictures up on the site when the Tiki progresses and I'll post here on this thread.

Welcome UJ.
hmmm, a tiki in Texas?
I'll bet the locals look at you sideways when you talk about tiki. They might even ask you, "What the hell is a tiki?"
As for me, I was born in San Antone. Home of the Alamo and the San Antonio River walk, where the high rises shoot straight up from the water. Got to get back someday.

Not if you live in this Texas town:

i've been meaning to vacation down there... it's about 6 hours or so. Hmm I might beable to detour around houston. Love the city hate the drivers.

JungleTrader: They have no idea of what I talk about (except the few who collect). I often have to tell them "Hi-why-ian stuff".
I snagged a mint Bali Hai in a dirt flea market in Lubbock a year ago on my Honeymoon. The lady told me "Say I have a whole bunch of that Hi-why-ian stuff!" I walked away with 3 mugs & a coco joes necklace.

I've never actually been there but I looked at the real estate pictures and I didn't see one damn tiki.

Ya know, I'm a little envious. You're in tiki heaven UJ. You should be able to acquire a massive collection with very few clams.

Middle-of-the-ocean, as in Midlothian?

you hit the nail on the head TikiMikey.
Actually I grew up there. Now I live in the same county, just a smaller town where it's alot quieter.
