Any Tiki in Tarpon Springs??

Pages: 1 7 replies

Tristan and I will be spending Thanksgiving weekend in Tarpon Springs. Besides the Tahitian Inn & Weeki Wachee, are there any tiki sites or other places of interest we should include in our sight seeing?????

Bree,
I don't know of any other tiki in Tarpon, but there is a nice sunset boat trip that leaves from the sponge docks. Due to the time of year, bring a jacket with you.
Be sure to visit the Sponge-a-rama museum. It's a funky little museum on the history of sponge diving and Tarpon Springs.
And, if you get the chance before or after you go, rent the video/DVD "Beneath the 12-mile Reef". It was filmed in Tarpon Springs and is about the Greek sponge divers rivalry with the Conch sponge divers in the Keys.
Have fun!

Thanks Geoff, you are always a wonderful help!!!! By the way, are you going to the Retro-rama show this year in Gulfport???
It's Dec 13th 10am-8pm. Annette from Hula Hula (remember her at Hukilau?) stages this extravaganza of kitsch collectables for sale......

"Beneath the twelve mile reef" is one of my favorite movies, I don't why. Everytime its on I have to watch it. Which is alot!
I like any of the movie like that, there's another one with Sophie Lorian where they a pullin up treasure, but I cna't remember the name.

Won't make the retro show this year. We went last year and I scored a couple of nice mugs. They also had a few Tiki Gardens items for sale.
Aloha,

Gyros are great there in Tarpon Springs, and it's a haven for Sponge Bob freaks.
