I lived there for 4 years and will be back in a couple I expect. It's one of those rare places that feels "real," ...it's got vibe. But how to get the word out? I think the participants in Tiki Central qualify as members of the "Creative Class" Memphis is looking to attract. I must say I don't understand the first quote in the story "I want to start stealing those people from the cities of Chicago, St. Louis, Birmingham," .... BIRMINGHAM? I can get more creativity out of a Baptist minister in Memphis than I can from the Alan Hunter sycophants at WorkPlay in Birmingham. http://www.nytimes.com/2003/12/11/garden/11COOL.html http://www.livefrommemphis.com Save the planet: http://universist.meetup.com |

I used to live up by the northern end of I57 but my wife never wanted to drive down, not even the chance to see Beale Street before they completely turned it into a disneyfied shopping mall moved her. |

What's wrong with Birmingham? I see they even re-erected the Vulcan statue (ha)! |
