The Tiki gardens.....

This came from Swanky in another post:

There is also a film in a library in Florida that has tourism footage of Tiki Gardens. Someone needs to go see that and find out how to get a copy. As best as I remember, it was not available for loan. I don't think I have a link to it anymore, but the listing can be found online.

This would be great to see! Is The Tiki Gardener up on this?

I just came across this picture of the Tiki Gardens entrance sign.

Cool! Does Tiki Gardener have this on his site?

I think Ihave that one, or one from the same shoot on the 3rd Miscelaneous page.

Just checked it, yup I got that one. Thanks for thinkin of me!!!

I gotta go mix the wife a drink, and then I'll try and address the issue of the footage, I know about it, and plan to get a video cassette of it soon, and some other stuff like some more slides, and then maybe I'll have to be an opening act for Sven's seminars!

Hey Tangaroa, Are you the cat who's still lookin fer the Tiki Gardens OST? If yea, and you have a burner thats hooked up to a cassette deck lets hook up. The next coupla weeks are kinda busy, but mid august is open.
Perhaps a listening party for any L.A. area tikicentralites is in order.

Hey, Let me know how I may obtain a copy of that "Tiki Gardens" record too. That one is high up on my "obtain a copy" list. I have only seen one copy on eBay and it went for waaaay over a hundred bucks! I have plenty of stuff to trade too!

I don't own an original, but I got a cassette dupe of it, all I need is someone with a cd burner in the L.A. area, and I'll burn some copies.

I want one of those too! Why don't you sell copies of the CD with proceeds set aside to erect a tiki at the old Tiki Gardens (unless you need the cash to support the site)? I'd pay $20 bucks for a copy and I'm sure lots of others would too. I bet we could get Wayne Combs to do a Lono tiki (I just got back from his place and he works in mediums other than palm.) Besides, I think its time we undertake a charitable project.

I agree, I've been mulling many an idea, but time and money have been of a fleeting quality lately.
Give me to the end of the day, and I'll dig out some info, and we'll go a new route on the onsite memorial.
After I do all my errands ( including the sending of a check for a Tiki Gardens candy dish ) I'll scour my hard drive.
Now that I think of it, the only thing that the old Tiki Central had ( that almost no one used ) that would come in handy now would be a live chat option.
I'd love to brainstorm with all of you on this in a live fashion.
Hang tight, we'll get this done!

Ok. First I'm going to try one possible local media contact in the Clearwater area. If any body lives down there, and has access to anyone who works for any newspapers, or perhaps someone who has a public access sahow, or a contact at one of the local tv stations, contact them! Let's see if we can get this out to the broader population.
I'll contact the Parks Dept again, and see what happens there.

Sorry so late in response - was hung over from the PeriArts tiki party this weekend! Anyway - I can burn from cassette. So if you can get me a good copy - I would be happy to burn to CD! I'd be happy to create the artwork as well, but don't want to be responsible for distributing it...
Let me know!

More scans due to come in shortly, and I'm hunting another address to add to the list of people to write to try and get the tiki put up on the old site.

Okay heres the lp up on ebay, from the description, it sounds like buyer beware, but even to have a beat up copy would be nice. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2133067139
Tangaroa, heres your chance!

Ha! I'd love a copy - but not at $100 +.....(I guess that's what the last one went for) - I'll just wait for the cd....

OK - now this sucker is up over $200! Guess even I was low in my estimate.... Jeez - it's cool, but it's just a record!

Well,
I do have to say that the person selling it ( I have my suspicion that it is a tikicentralite who makes infrequent visits here ) is probably doing frikkin back flips.
The person who has put the at least 212.50 is the guy who runs the other tiki gardens site. Gotta hand it to him for the deep pockets and commitment, but...
TG

Any progress on the CD front? I'd love to get a copy.
