Are these items worth anything?

Pages: 1 8 replies

Just wondering if any of these items would be worth selling or trading. I bought them all at thrift stores, I'd say since I was 15. The two wood carved statues my mom got from a friend who said she bought them many many many years ago on a trip to Indonesia. There is a tag on the back of the woman but it doesn't say anything. The two mugs are glazed and have a little cracking; no chips or cracks in the ceramic (I'm assuming they're ceramic) though. No marks on the bottom. The pineapple server thing (I really don't know much about any of this stuff as you can read), it says "made in Phillipines" on the bottom. There are 6 scoops in the pineapple, enough for one for each of the "cups". Oh, and I think it's mother of pearl inside the "cups". Lastly, there is a nutcracker. Love it. Anyway, I'm just THINKING of parting with these items. I'm moving on from most of my tiki stuff and passing it onto my brother who's picked up the addiction. He ain't gettin my Shag mugs, that's all I know! So, if anyone could tell me if anything is worth selling that'd be cool. If not, then the bro gets it.

**If image doesn't show up, you can go to http://www.retropopart.net/tonya%20LISTINGs/tiki.htm to see the items that I'm talking about.

Thanks!

I bought that same nutcracker at Pier One in the 70's.

I'd bid on the mugs (though they look to have a drama/comedy theatre theme) and the pineapple serving tray.

The mugs look like court jesters to me.

But how much??? Anything less than $10.00 isn't worth listing on Ebay to me.

By the way, the mugs totally have that comedy/tragedy thing going on. I had them displayed for years like that. One smiling while the other is frowning.

The comedy/tragedy mugs have always sold for a decent price every time I've ever seen them come up. A brown one sold about a week ago for $46. I've seen them in the past sell for as much as $77 each. If I were selling it I would expect to get $40 each, so that should make it worth your while. I'm reasonably sure those are hobbyist mugs so their value is a little more unpredictable than others. Of course, on eBay anything can happen...

Well, then definately those comedy/tragedy mugs are going up for sale! My bro is going to have to suffer... Bwahahahahaha!

The selling price all depends on the description and the images that you post.

The more you cater to the group that would want the item and lots of good photos the better you will do.

I still think the mug is a jester and there must be a whole group of collecters just for those.

Okay. Finally got around to listing the mugs. Low reserve on them. Lower than what was mentioned in this thread previously. Also listed a pair of masks that I had up too.

Oh.. and, cultjam, if you're still interested in the pineapple serving thingy, email me and we'll discuss a price.
