United Airlines Luau Planner

Pages: 1 4 replies

I got a hold of this nice tourist packet issued by United Air Lines from 1969 and besides pamphlets of site seeing recommendations came with a catalog called "Luau Party Planner" which showcases luau tips and drink recipes. But more importantly for our purpose is a catalog that runs the gamut of Polynesian kitsch relics from attire to shells, flowers, mai tai making kits, and loads of tikis for every occasion. The going rate for a tiki mug back then was $1 or $.75 if you order 72 or more. The mailing address was Paradise Products, Inc in EL Cerrito California. Here's a few pictures.

Nice piece. I especially like the section that looks like it features the Treasure-Craft items. Maybe you could post a larger pic of that section.
Aloha,

Those cool cocktail napkins are still available. I got several packages from (I think) http://www.partymaster.com. They appear to use the same exact artwork, and I'd wondered if they were an old or recent design. Now I know...

That catalog also seems to have been a source for the "praying monkey" mug (Paul Marshal-ish). I always wondered where that thing came from. I also like the tall ceramic Treasure Craft tiki. Those were the days when airlines were cool.
