Help with name of great, long closed Bay Area Tiki Bar

Pages: 1 3 replies

Hi, Very happy to have found this great site and have a few questions I've carried around for years re Tiki bars, music, etc. First question: I'd love to know the name of a great Peninsula Tiki Bar near San Mateo I guess that I used to drive down to from San Francisco. The place had a great diarama behind the bar in which the sun set every half hour or so. Thanks.

Welcome aboard!
You sir, would be thinking of the late, great "Lanai" in San Mateo now a Walgreens.
Aloha,
:tiki:

Thank you very much - you don't know who got that diorama do you. I think about that thing all the time!

Franconero, I don't know who ended up with the diorama (or if it even survived) but our very own Aquarj bought the old Barney West tiki. The tiki made its way over to Lanai Liquors after the restaurant closed and when the owner put it up for sale, Aquarj snatched it up.

Here is the old thread about the discussion:

And here is a link to his slideshow documenting the tiki's move to his new home:
