Radio as we know it is breathing it's last breath. AM radio, and then FM radio became the voice of the people in the the latter part of the 20th century. From pre-TV family entertainment in the 1940s, to Top 40 AM 'Boss' radio and countercultural underground FM in the 60s and early 70s, radio was a place for people to go and identify with voices and music. In today's stale corporate culture, it's hard to find anything that embodies any kind of passion as it did back in the day. The FM/AM airwaves do not belong to the people anymore. Internet radio, for at least the time being, is the only outlet for free-form programing. With that said, I'd like to recommend 'EVR' or 'East Village Radio'. Located in the middle of the East Village here in NYC, it offers free-form programming and an altertative to the stale Clear Channel world we live in. Cheggidout. Who knows, you may actually be hearing old 'donhonyc' on there in the future.
