My father brought me back some stone-carved mini Moais from his trip to Easter Island. I love them! But I want more for my collection. (greedy, arent I?) lol Trouble is, I cant seem to find them anywhere here in the states. I have no trouble finding moai mugs and art, but I want more of the stone carvings. Know where I can find some? Thanks! :) ~Lenore Shaffer |

Are you looking for Moai actually carved from stone? If not, I always have one of these guys up for grabs. |

Gavtiki does stone tikis. Some are moais. Do a search and you'll find some of his work. Of course, Gav's in Australia, but the exchange rate is pretty favourable for you guys, so shipping isn't really a problem. |

An excellent idea, but what about the ahu? The ahu platforms of Easter Island were the sanctuaries of the people of Rapa Nui, and the moai statues were the ritually charged sacred objects of those sanctuaries. While the statues have been toppled and re-erected over the centuries, the mana or spiritual presence of Rapa Nui is still strongly present at the ahu sites and atop the sacred volcanoes. |
