TC down from the 1st to the 3rd

Pages: 1 41 replies

Sorry TC was down for 3 days with no warning and with no chirps from me. I was out of town when it happened, and really it was my mistake ... no hacking or anything.

Thanks for all the messages from everyone conserned about TC.

yay.. i was jonesing for my TC.. glad its all fixed.

three cheers for Hanford!

H

My sentiment Dogbytes.

Phew! You never realize how addicted you are until you can't have it!

M

Glad everything is back online! I always check the site a couple of times a day to keep up on happenings, even if I'm too busy to actually post. I definitely missed TC while it was down. This down time got me thinking what a tragedy it would have been if all the information contained in this forum were lost. There is such a wealth of knowledge here I'm not sure it could ever be replaced. Hopefully Hanford is backing everything up regularly.

Well Mr. Lemoore,
I hope your freakin happy, and I’m gonna hold you liable!
I became a raging alcoholic from the impact of Tiki Central being down.
OOPS! No I'm sorry. That happened 10 years ago. Never Mind. :)

Glad we’re back up and running!

TR

right you are...I was ready to put out an amber alert for my missing tiki family.

O

I've been jonezn for TC. It's amazing how addicted I've become. I'm with Unga, I had to turn to alcohol to replace my TC family! Chief Lapu Lapu rules...

To keep from hyperventilating I had to start a new carving. That's a good thing, but I'm glad to once again rest my weary hands on the keyboard.

H

Benzart, your profile settings have been re-set to what they were a year ago, you can turn off the emailing of messages by clicking on "Edit Preferences" up there on the right. More details:

Yay! TC's back! Yay!

J

I'm glad things are back to normal - I was worried my employers were on to me and my Tiki Central addiction and had blocked the site from the company's server - glad to hear I wasn't the only one jonesin' for my T.C. fix!

(Picture Jim Carey in Batman Forever at the end of the movie when the machine is sucking his brains...his comment?)
BUMMER!
Thats how I have felt for the last few days, I am mixing a Prozac and rum as we speak!

WOW! What a relief to have TC back! My withdrawal became so severe that I ended up spending several hours at a local casino and now have to declare bankruptcy(O.K. that is a bit of an exaggeration, but it certainly wasn't pretty--any chance on being reimbursed for my losses, Hanford?!~~CD

WooHoo! It's been a long couple of days, I'm so glad things are back to normal.

Hanford, glad you werent gone for the rest of the holiday, the three days was torture.

I was reminded of my childhood when the TV repairman would show up, take a look and say "I'm gonna have to take this to the shop" and we'd just sit around staring at the empty cabinet in morbid disbelief.

M

This downtime reinforces how important my connectivity to all of you is for me.

Its nice to be back and to see all of you.

I've been stumbling around like Mr Magoo for the past few days! It's amazing how much you take Tiki Central for granted.

Great to see it's back up and Hanford's at the helm. Perhaps this is a good time to point out how taking out Grand Membership is always an excellent way of showing support for Tiki Central and keeping it the incredible Tiki resource that it is today.

AHA! Vacation? No rest for the weary.
I thought maybe you were working on the SHOUT. Been busy and haven't been around much but I still check every now and then.

B

Boy, it was nice to wake up and see tc still online. That was a Miserable 20 days (or however many it was) with no TC Boards. What happened?

Imagine if you will:

"hmmmm, how should I go about finishing my first carving? stain? oil? I know, I'll check the carving threads on TC. I'll just double-click here and... AAACCKK!!!"

followed by several dozen tries over the past few days.

Great to see my old friend TC is back to health, I've missed ya.

Oh my freaking God/Non-Religious-Based Higher Entity!

I had a near-death experience(did you know that there really is a light at the end of this tunnel; it's just that it's real dimly lit).

Man, I saw my life flash before my eyes (well, actually it was Harry Truman's life; he was into some REAL weird stuff).

Hanford, I am so sorry for anything I've done, am doing, or will do in the future! Please, please, please, please do not ever do that again.

Did you know that without my beloved Tiki Central, Tiki_Bong fails to exist? What's up with that sh$t!

Anyway, back to my old self...

I had to go back to Internet porn! Yuck!

S

Thank you Hanford, back on line at last. We just moved down to San Diego, still waiting for the DSL, direct TV, and Tivo. I could deal with the wait, but no tikicentral, you gotta be kidding me.

Tiki Centrals back Phew!

P

Wow, that was scary. I must now face up to my addiction. My name is Paul and I am a Tikiholic. You don't relize how much a part of your life something like this becomes until it is gone for a few days. I feel so much better now.

D

i looked for Owl Central to see if they had anything to do with our outage. those big-eyed freaks were whining about all the severed head and outrigger mugs they run across when they're looking for spotted nocturnal birds.

damn them.

Since TC has been down is anyone else finding that posts are staying pink even when you've read them, been away, switched off etc, or is it me?
Forget what I've just said it now works!

Is anyone else having trouble logging in?
I Cannot log in. I can reply to a Post after giving my username and password, but it demands the same info for every post . I'm not shown in "currently browsing" either.
My log-on has been flakey sinse the board was down. Any one else? Any suggestions?
I registered another account under a different e-mail and it does the same thing. I have a few hairs left that I didn't pull out yet(saving for next shrunkenhead).

B

Even with this new logon, I'm here but I'm not here. What am I doing wrong?
I notice that when I click the Submit button to post a reply, that Im shown as "Logged in as--" briefly, then I am no Longer here.

hey, same thing here, Hanford talked me thru the "fix"... use the http://www.tikicentral.com website, not the http one. then you're password will keep you logged in.

Thanks Dogbytes, that worked fine

B

Thanks Dogbytes, that worked Great

I think this is a configuration problem (needing the www vs. without it). I think I'll look into it tonight.

Yes the folders are all still red after three days, whats happening?

Yeah, its happening to me again.

F

Me too. Everything stays red.

The red folders are based on the cookie date. I changed the cookie to fix the www bug, so that might be it. Let's wait a few days and see if that's still happening.

Hanford

I had a few minor problems returning to the site, but it all turned out to be personal settings and suchlike. It appears that some sort of grim static cloud descended on TC at the very moment Hanford flagged down a taxi to the airport.

Anyway, he left a note just in case:
'Please use "Edit Preferences" to change your mail options back to the way you want them.
Sorry for this!
~Hanford'

This seems to work.
