Very cool, I dig the style

Hey, she's cute. What am I looking at? What materials did you use, and what's the support? What I mean is, is it wallpaper, or portable?

Regarding my "Hula Girlz on Wallpaper" series of paintings:
They are painted on thick paper approximately 20 x 24 inches in size.
I use thick acrylic paints.
The paper is not wallpaper, I just painted the wallpaper design on the painting and then added the pictures (simulated photos perhaps) of the Hula Girlz on the wallpaper.
Each painting has a different "wallpaper" and different number of Hula Girlz on it.

I had some really 60´s looking wallpaper laying around and thought I would paint on it, but since the paper was so flimsy and I didn´t want to have collage-type art, I decided to paint my own wallpaper.

If you are in Portland, Oregon there are a couple in an exhibit at the Kaufman Studio:

Regarding the "shrunken head" painting on the Kaufman Studio page that is from another artist that exhibits in the gallery section of the studio. He also does some wild tiki carvings using carved foam.

The "splitting ameoba" art work you mention is by me and is a small out-take from a larger painting entitled, "As Bob headed west from Portland looking for the Lewis and Clark trail he was met by three icons of Oregon trying selling their agricultural products".

Cool stuff, Charles. Long live hula girls!

Thanks! I was just looking at a couple of the paintings in the "Hula Girlz on Wallpaper" series and remembered that I actually painted two of them on wallpaper.
What I did was take plain white wallpaper that had a lot of texture in it, then made the wallpaper a little stronger/stiffer by painting over it with some glue-type stuff I have. Then I created my painting, my wallpaper design and Hula Girl, on top of it.
The texture coming through from the base wallpaper added a new look to that painting.

Here´s a new link to a German website about the artwork I created for the 10th Annual New Pop Music Festival coming up in September.
http://www.swr3.de/fun/events/newpop2004/plakat/
Has some photos of me creating the original painting, plus getting interviewed for German TV.

Schöner Artikel auf swr3.de übrigens...gibt's das auch als Clip im Netz?

Thanks - yes, it is a nice article. I don´t know if there is a video clip of the TV bit they did with me somewhere on their website. I will have to check.

Tomorrow I am doing a radio interview with SWR3 regarding the painting I did for the official poster for the New Pop Music festival.

By the way, the festival people are offering the official poster as a collector´s limited-edition print of 1,000 pieces. Each will be handsigned, dated and numbered by me (I don´t look forward to signing them!).
The print is 70 x 100 cm in size.
It is the same size that I painted the original.
In fact the print is made from a digital file that is 70x 100 cm - I had the painting scanned 1:1 so I would not lose any details in the art. (Taking a photo then blowing it up causes one to lose most of the fine detail.)
The price will be 49 Euros ($60.60) each, I believe.

Thats is all very cool art, info and news Toonz . Sounds like you have been very busy . Best of luck to you watch out for writers cramp.
