New York Dolls' bass player Arthur Kane R.I.P.

This is especially tragic because he just played a reunion show in London with the other 2 original surviving members, and they were set to go on an international tour. And he died at the young age of 55.

The legendary Rock n Roll photographer Bob Gruen just posted a batch of photos a few weeks ago documenting the Dolls reunion gig that took place only one month ago in London, produced by Morrisey. Seems like things were good for Syl, Dave, and Arthur. Surprising how things in life can change so fast.

So many people form the 70s punk/glam era have passed in the last 10 years or so. Joe Strummer, Joey and DeeDee Ramone, Jerry Nolan, Johnny Thunders, Stiv Bators. Some of these guys obviously had health problems for reasons we're all aware of, but that's besides the point.

Rest in peace Arthur.

Sad news. Those reunion photos really knocked the stuffin' outta me. I remember after the Dolls broke up David Johansen & Sylvain Sylvain went solo, Johnny Thunders & Jerry Nolan formed the Heartbreakers and Killer Kane started up a band called The Corpse Grinders. That was about '78 and I've always been on the lookout for any vinyl they might have released. Arthur Kane was a classic. The world will be a worse place without him.

A freind had a coupla spare tickets to that gig and unfortunately I couldnt make it, I'm feelin pretty bummed now.

Great pictures, seeing them makes the news even harder to take. Especially that one with Glen Matlock and Kane.

Hearing how he died kinda makes one want to make the most of their time, huh?

Wow, it surprised me to read that he was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints later in his life. I don't think many Mormons would be into the NY Dolls!
