The cynicism of some of these posts is why I responded. Let's be honest, if you say something like; this new policy is a bunch of crap, or you'd rather go to Hawaii with your friends, or that it's OK for you to have an attitude, but not OK for Casey to respond to your attitude, because he "needs" us, you aren't playing nice, you aren't giving constructive feedback. You are taking advantage of the anonymity of the internet to pout. You lose all sympathy when you do that.

Take a small step outside of the world you live in and put yourself in the shoes of the person you are accusing of gouging you, because really, when you talk about the costs, and that they seem excessively prohibitive, you are essentially insinuating that the people who are putting the event on, are taking advantage of you.

Is that what you really believe? How would you like it if you spent your entire years worth of paid vacation days, and then some, putting on an event like tiki oasis, to return home 4 days later and see a thread of 8+ pages with nothing but complaints about the entertainment, mood, attendees, etc. etc. etc. Then come back a few months later, give these same people a 3 day jump on next years event, change as many policies, address as many concerns as possible, and then have people basically accuse you of profiteering THEIR event? Why do people feel like it's ok to post this stuff about Tiki News and the Tropics?

Mr. Smiley, I don't honestly believe that anyone who has enjoyed your company at a tiki event would imply that your presence is not sadly missed. Anyone who says otherwise is just a damn fool.

Full disclosure: I have NOTHING to do with planning or putting on TO. Otto and Doe are friends, and I help them out with Vander when they need it, so I've seen first hand the amount of work, time and personal energy they put into this. I'm a little protective of them, because I know how important this event is to them, how incredibly honest they are, and how much fun it is for me and the mister.
