I agree that one of the things that can help your back is to make it stronger. I used to do power lifting and people would cringe and say you are going to gurt your back. Nope. I made my back bulletproof. I did the exercise shown above with a 45 pound plate. Lots of dead lifts and more. I took it slow and careful, but I had a lower back that could take whatever I threw at it.
