This has happened to more than one of us: you're looking up some information about a Tiki bar on the Web and you find a mention about an unrelated, long gone Temple of Tiki, something that you've never heard of before, sometimes in the town where you grew up. It's my turn.

While looking for fresh info about Jade Island, I found mention of a Bronx Tikified Chinese Restaurant called Hawaii Sea on Chowhound.com:

I just got off the phone with Hawaii Sea. Someone working there told me they renovated the place last year and threw out or gave away all their "old, dirty" tiki fixtures. It is now a sushi bar with decor that this person described as "a little bit Chinese, a little bit Japanese."

WAAAAAAH!!!!

This was posted by Sue Cummings on May 22, 2001. I've searched the web for pictures or descriptions of the place before being gutted of Tikis, but I find nothing. I find a Tiki restaurant in my old childhood stomping grounds of the outer bouroughs of NYC, & it's been detikified for almost 5 years. :(

Does anyone have pictures or more info than "if you want won ton soup that is out of this world come here?"
