According to the Don the Beachcomber book I read, it was a mynah bird, not a parrot. The patrons took great delight in feeding it pieces of fruit soaked in rum and watching it stagger up and down the bar saying "gimme a beer, stupid!" Don went through many mynah birds in this fashion. |
