I met him back @ 1986 and was surprised by how bright he was. He spoke well, was appropriately vulgar, and made everyone laugh mostly...it was in conversation, after his speaking gig that his wit was most apparent.

Reading so many the obits from people in their tributes, and words in memorial, it's funny how similar they are to each other.

I wonder if he didn't suffer the same fate as Bernard Kliban, who was indirectly killed by the (because of the) 1980s cat he drew, later becoming so associated with it, that none of his other artwork could be taken seriously.

I think he (Thompson) had more than he showed. He was a splendid bad example.
