I appreciate the personal reviews of some of those motels by someone who has actually been to some of them. But I can't agree that winging it without a reservation is a good idea in the Keys, or in most places for that matter. I don't like spending my vacation driving around looking for a room and settling for one I don't really like. Many of the resorts I listed get booked way in advance and cater to repeat customers, so I would pick one and book ahead.
