I came across this Hawaiian Moon Calendar over the weekend in this dump of shop. The bottom has some interesting text associated with the print. The text says that the tiki is Maui. The tapa on the sides represent the mountains. Maui is straddling the "Puka" (hole) that the Polynesians poetically believe the sun dropped into at night. The inner most of the circle represents the four winds. |
