Tiki Central / Tiki Carving / Type of wood to use??

I don't know what size of wood you're going to carve, or if you're using power tools or not, but I carve smaller tikis with micro knives and my favorite wood so far is mahogany. It looks great, carves easy, finishes well, and feels good and heavy in your hand. I'm sure everyone's favorite is discovered only by experience though.
