It's in the Reliance Building (1895), designed by Burnham, Root, and Atwood in the style that was unique to Chicago around the turn of the century ("the Chicago style"). I stayed there for Exotica in 2003. The rooms are small but fancy. It's only 3 or 4 blocks from Trader Vic's. The cost is in the price range of many loop hotels (expensive during the week and moderate on weekends). http://www.burnhamhotel.com/ If you like mid-century buildings and want to splurge you can stay in the Marina Towers (1964) on the 40th. floor in a one-bedroom apartment with mid-century modern decor for $165/night.
