As our savage renewal project cleen and I decided to bring up the subject of tiki ashtrays for a few reasons. The first being that ashtrays have went the way of the dodo due to the anti smoking mentality of the country (don’t take this the wrong way I don’t like smoke filled places either and I occasionally smoke!). second we could not find a post dedicated to them. Thirdly we feel ashtrays are the weakest part of our own collection and most likely everyone else’s. That said we encourage everyone to add to this post so we and everyone else can see what’s out there.

Some of these are not tiki or even from restaurants but we enjoy them just the same and hope you do too. We included the matchbooks from the locales if we had them and ask that you do the same. Enjoy!

frankoma T8 not marked from a restaurant.

kahiki does anyone know when this was used and who made it?

la concha motel, Vegas

terrace isle small print reads "tropical drinks in a tahitian atmosphere" no city listed on the ashtray. Does anyone have any info on this place?

hawaiian gardens san jose: I have seen a few mugs from this place too

kon tiki hotel phoenix

islander Stockton ca. match books from both major owners

lanai san mateo

bali hai shelter island. Three versions of the matchbook. The goof and cook island version are the same on the reverse.

large colorful ashtray. There is a set of this stuff that includes shakers, coffee type mug, tumbler and plate.

old souvenir ashtray that is a decal under glaze. Very lightweight and brittle.

another souvenir ashtray that you see a lot in thrift stores. Usually they have a name and hawaiian translation of the name. I thought it was cool that I could finally have one but didn’t have to look at a name like chuck (not that there is anything wrong with the name chuck) on it!

while this one has nothing to do with tiki or Hawaii I had to put the 25 cents down for it for obvious reasons!
