I hit the thrifts after work, and picked up a barrel cup (with handle) that was marked 'Made in Occupied Japan'. It looks just like this one. The cup isn't specifically Tiki, but it got me wondering if any Tiki ceramics were made in Occupied Japan. The 'Made in Occupied Japan' markings were used from around 1946 to 1952. This is a bit early for the height of the Tiki era, but it is certainly in the ballpark. Does anybody know more about this? |
