Tiki - Made in Occupied Japan?

I hit the thrifts after work, and picked up a barrel cup (with handle) that was marked 'Made in Occupied Japan'. It looks just like this one. The cup isn't specifically Tiki, but it got me wondering if any Tiki ceramics were made in Occupied Japan.

The 'Made in Occupied Japan' markings were used from around 1946 to 1952. This is a bit early for the height of the Tiki era, but it is certainly in the ballpark. Does anybody know more about this?

I have also came across that mug in antique stores, but never pulled the trigger. There is also a toothpick holder that looks identical except there is no handle. The bottom of the toothpick holder was marked "Japan".

Well, I just wasted 20 minutes scanning through the 2760 items that came up on e-bay with a search on "occupied japan". Nothing tiki. Nada.

I have one of those. It's not as brown, more of a tan color, but the exact same design. Mine is only Marked "Japan". I really don't think it's Tiki either so I keep loose change in mine.

ditto tiki trevor, except for the keeping change in it part.

this thread touches on dates and timelines including occupied japan
