I was in Europe recently and it seemed tips were already figured into the bill. There's an excellent burger joint down here in Imperial Beach. No waiters. I always tip the guy at the cash register a buck. If I get less than a dollar in change at a place like Starbucks, I dump it in the tip jar. I tip pretty heavily in bars, as this ensures a generous pour later on. And also, a bartender told me never to tip with change. Bills only. Don't know why. Cabs. I only use a cab when I'm on an expense account, and I tip heavily. Why not? For a $12 ride I'll give him a twenty and tell him to keep it. Everyone needs a friggin' break at least once in a blue moon. |
